I was a student at the Harris Art School in Avenham Lane, Preston from 1959 to 1961. We were sent out sketching in Preston, and we usually did a minimum of work. I remember when we were told to go to the docks to sketch, we hid underneath some empty goods wagons, peering out between the wheels, until we saw our tutor's legs go past. Then knowing that the coast was clear, we simply explored the docks for a while. He never did find us.
